New Muzeum Kladenska Website Launched
After many experiments with the unsatisfactory WordPress CMS, the system was eventually abandoned and the museum website was built from scratch on a greenfield basis. We can now finally focus on adding content.
Hostivice: The Powder Magazine, Barracks and the Cesspit Explosion of 1921
The story of how soldiers from the barracks were pilfering from the ammunition depot — and how it was discovered thanks to a cesspit explosion in March 1921. Prague used to keep its powder magazine in the Hvězda Summer Palace; in the 1870s it was decided to relocate it to a sparsely populated area near Hostivice.

Fialka — Hustoles's Inn by the Station
A rare "advertising" postcard of the Fialka settlement near Unhošť from the early last century. The settlement's name does not come from the flower — but from Jozef Fiala, mayor of Malé Přítočno, who in 1881 built a pub with a bowling alley on the Carlsbad road.

Ludmila Bozděchová, a member of Náprstek's American Ladies' Club, plays a role in the history of emancipation in the Czech lands — as the first female postal clerk in Austria-Hungary. Suchý mlýn near Unhošť belonged to her family.

The Origins of Athletics in Kladno: Medal from the 100-Yard Race (1908)
There were times when sports included Jára Cimrman-style disciplines such as "standing long jump" or "cube throw". Strangely old-fashioned today, however, is also the 100-yard race — a contest held on 16 August 1908 at the SK Kladno ground in Kladno.
